Articulation AgreementsWhat is articulation? Articulation is the process of evaluating courses, or a sequence of courses, to determine whether a particular course offered at one educational system/institution (e.g. De Anza College) will meet the requirements for admission, transfer credit, general education, or lower division major preparation at another educational system/institution (e.g. CSU, UC, or independent). This process ensures that classes taken at De Anza College will be credited toward bachelor's degree requirements when entering a university. What is an articulation agreement? Articulation agreements were established to help transfer students make a smooth transition from a community college to a four-year college or university without duplicating coursework. With an articulation agreement courses at a sending college (i.e. De Anza College) are identified as comparable to, or acceptable in lieu of, courses at a receiving university. This process allows transfer students to fulfill a university requirement by completing a comparable course (articulated course) at De Anza College. Articulation agreements may be presented as course-to-course, for lower division major preparation and/or for general education-breadth requirements. In some cases, courses are only articulated (identified) as elective courses. This means that while the units will transfer to the university, the course does not fulfill any specific requirements other than as transferable units. Articulation Agreements between De Anza College and Four-Year Colleges and Universities De Anza College has established official articulation agreement with regionally accredited four-year universities that are located both in and outside of California. The following is a list of schools that have existing articulation agreements with De Anza College.
