Transferring to the California State University

If you are planning to transfer to one of the 23 campuses in the California State University (CSU) system you can learn more about the requirements for admission, general education, majors, and transfer by exploring this Web site.

The majority of transfer students enter the CSU at the upper-division level (minimum of 90 CSU-transferable quarter units completed). If you complete 89 or fewer CSU-transferable quarter units by the time you enter the CSU you are considered a lower-division transfer. Some CSU campuses do not accept lower-division transfers. It is important to check with the campus if you are considering transfer as a lower-division student.

The CSU uses a common set of factors to make admission decisions for both classes of transfer students. All campuses have higher standards for out-of-state students and international students. Some campuses have higher standards for particular majors. Finally, a few campuses have higher standards for all applicants.

There are also transfer tools and tips available on the CSUMentor Web site. CSUMentor is an online outreach, admission, application and financial aid resource designed to help students and their families learn about the CSU system. Information includes the admission requirements, financial aid opportunities and access to the online application for admission.
