How to Apply

here. To be considered for admission to the Honors Program, you must submit several items which are described below.
- If you are a new student to De Anza, make sure you have submitted an admissions application to the Office of Admissions and Records.
- Both new and continuing students must submit the following items:

- New students and continuing students who have NOT completed at least 15 UC transferable units at De Anza
- High School or college transcripts (other than those from De Anza)
which record work from the last three years. (You will need to send an
official high school transcript to Admissions and Records. The
transcript submitted with your Honors application can be a copy of the
official transcript.)
Continuing students (who have completed at least 15 UC transferable units at De Anza) - no transcripts are required.
- Typed essay which demonstrates your critical thinking and writing
abilities. You may either use an essay you turned in for a class within
the past year, or you may write a new essay. If you write a new essay,
it must be no more than 700 words. The topic of it must be: Discuss how
a particular event, person, course or class, literary work, film or
television program has influenced or changed your thinking and behavior
in a significant way.
- Statement of your own reasons for wanting to participate in the
Honors Program--its value to you and what you can contribute to the
Program. (200 words)
- Recommendation from a teacher who can comment on your academic
qualities and commitment to studies. You should provide the teacher
with the attached recommendation form and a stamped envelope addressed
to:

Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. However, to be eligible for early registration you must meet the following deadlines:
Fall Quarter 2009: June 15, 2009
Winter Quarter 2010: October 16, 2009
Spring Quarter 2010: January 21, 2010
