Meeting Notes - October 12, 2011

Introductions

Cook introduced new SSPBT members, Tracy Chung (Classified), Amy Leonard (Faculty), Leela Tanikella (DASB), Janny Thai (Classified). Amy, Janny and Tracy will confirm with their respective governance groups what their term will be.

SSPBT Committee Template

Members reviewed the committee template which includes the title, mission, charge, committee structure, co-chairs, decision-making process, and committee training & meeting schedule for the SSPBT.

There was also a discussion about the importance of communicating information from the SSPBT meetings back to the governance groups. Representatives should request to be on the agenda to provide an update from the SSPBT to their governance group.

Members agreed to include a meeting summary at the end of each meeting.

The next Joint PBT Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 22 from 3:30 - 5 PM in the Admin Conference Room.

Accreditation Update

The team visit will be Oct 24-27. Information about the team can be found on the Accreditation web page. Cook asked everyone to review the governance template and Standard IIB (Student Services) before the team visit. Admissions and Records and Student Development are working with staff to review the Accreditation guide and what to expect. Cook asked LeBleu-Burns to review the information with DASB.

Budget Reductions and Timeline

Cook provided a handout of the proposed Student Services budget developed last spring, which the SSPBT will revamp based on revised figures. A timeline will be provided that will coordinate with Instruction. Members were asked to review the budget reduction proposals made last spring, before the meeting on October 19th, and provide information about how the reductions will affect instruction and faculty on the college level. 

Agenda for the Next Meeting

SSPBT co-chair - Members interested should self nominate or name someone.

Patlan reminded everyone that requests for Measure C funds are due to College Council by 11/10. Recommendations will need to be submitted for SSPBT review prior to the College Council.
