About Me

"I've come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that creates the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child's life miserable, or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration." - Haim Ginott, Teacher, Author

Biography

I'm one of the few instructors in our Child Development Department at De Anza College, which has PreK, Elementary, Middle School, and High School teaching experiences.  Over the past 10+ years, I've taught a variety of ages, including Kindergarten PE to Middle School Language Arts, Math, Science, History, and more.

Are you hoping to transfer to SJSU?  Maybe we shall cross paths there!  I teach in their Child & Adolescent Development and their Teacher Education Department (Graduate studies).

Currently, I'm also an adjunct professor in the School of Education and Leadership at Notre Dame de Namur University, teaching courses in their teaching credential and graduate degree programs.  I also mentor and supervise student-teachers who are placed in a variety of schools along the Peninsula, and who hope to complete a Teaching Credential. In addition, I am the field placement coordinator for their credential candidates.

I'm a big fan of teaching my students the course material; while relating it to real-life scenarios. We go to school to make a bigger impact on our society, not simply to learn the course content.

Come to experience my love of teaching in my child development classes offered here at De Anza College.

Academic Advising: As alumni of De Anza College, I want to make sure my students have the skill sets they need to be successful outside of the classroom.  I have a passion for helping my students beyond just the classroom environment.  If you have an interest or passion to pursue a teaching credential, and or a preschool teacher permit, please let me know.  I would be happy to connect with you and help you achieve your goals!
